DETROIT -- A Ford Motor Co. contract worker was seriously injured Wednesday morning after falling from a crane at the automaker’s Dearborn Diversified Manufacturing Plant.
Ford confirmed the accident, but declined to identify the worker or offer additional details about the incident. A witness told Automotive News the worker fell head first from several stories high.
The unidentified worker was an employee of Illinois-based Whiting Corp., according to sources familiar with the situation. The injured worker was taken to Oakwood Beaumont Hospital, Ford said. The worker’s condition was not available.
“The safety and security of everyone in our plants is our highest priority,” Ford said in an emailed statement. “We are launching a full investigation.”
A spokesperson for Whiting was not immediately available for comment.
