Even though U.S. light-vehicle sales are expected to remain relatively flat, there are still plenty of opportunities for conquest sales, said Erik Hjermstad, senior automotive market analyst for Experian.
“Slowing market conditions mean dealers must conquest effectively,” Hjermstad said Saturday. But dealers also need to retain their existing customers, he said.
Where are the conquest opportunities? Probably in trucks, especially crossovers and large SUVs, which outperformed the market in 2016, and should continue to do so this year, Hjermstad said.
