TO THE EDITOR:
“What’s in a name? A lot” (Hannah Lutz, autonews.com, Oct. 18) was a good commercial for J.D. Power. I have searched online for more information on these finance and insurance offerings from J.D. Power but can’t seem to find anything. I would be very interested to see if these products are just branded J.D. Power, similar to the General Motors products, or if they are indeed J.D. Power’s own products. If the former is the case, then the customer really is just buying the name, much like the GM programs the blog references, which are third-party products branded by GM. Of course, GM’s requirement to have consumers acknowledge the so-called third-party contracts is disingenuous at best.
